A prolific writer and award-winning poet, Rabbi Rami graduated from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Union Graduate School. He was the founding rabbi of Temple Beth Or, affiliated with The Jewish Reconstructionist Communities (JRC) and worked as a senior rabbi of Metivta, an egalitarian, non-denominational center for contemplative Judaism in Los Angeles.
He’s an adjunct professor of religious studies at Middle Tennessee State University, where he directs a creative writing program called The Writer’s Loft. He’s also director of Wisdom House, an interfaith contemplative center at the Scarritt-Bennett Center in Nashville. He was initiated into the Ramakrishna Order of Vedanta Hinduism, has published some thirty or so books and makes his living writing and talking as a freelance theologian.
